Install

If you've installed any TestFlight beta before, you can skip steps one and two. The flow is the same.
Install Apple TestFlight
Free, on the App Store. Apple's official beta-testing app. Skip if you already have it.
Tap "Accept"
The TestFlight invite link opens a one-tap join screen. Accept and Papera installs alongside your other apps.
Open Papera and scan
The shutter button is the only thing on the home screen. Point at any document — invoice, lecture note, receipt — and Papera does the rest.
Requirements
What you'll need.
The Apple Foundation Models stack only runs on devices with the A17 Pro Neural Engine or newer. Older iPhones can install the app but the on-device AI features are gated.
- iPhone
- iPhone 15 Pro · iPhone 15 Pro Max · iPhone 16 series · iPhone 17 series. Older devices install but cannot run on-device summarisation or typed extract.
- iOS
- iOS 26 or later. The Foundation Models framework, App Intents 2, and the new VisionKit document modes all require it.
- iPad
- iPad with M-series chip on iPadOS 26+. Adaptive three-column sidebar; Pencil annotation on extracted documents.
- Storage
- ~120 MB for the app. Documents are stored in your sandbox; ~1 KB per OCR'd page plus the page image (typically ~80–300 KB).
- Languages
- OCR & UI:
vi,en. AI prompts work in any language Apple Foundation Models supports. - Optional
- iCloud account for cross-device sync · OpenAI / Anthropic / Gemini / Ollama key for cloud AI. None of these are required to use the app.
